SEA-TVET Country Level Workshop Held in Philippines on 3-4 May 2016
130 leaders of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Philippines participated in a country level workshop on SEA-TVET Harmonisation and Mobility at SEAMEO Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH), Quezon City, Philippines, held on 3-4 May 2016.
The Workshop was hosted by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Department of Education (DepEd) of the Philippines and co-organised by the SEAMEO Secretariat, SEAMEO SEARCA, SEAMEO VOCTECH, SEAMEO INNOTECH and Asian Development Bank (ADB).
It served as a platform for establishing partnership and networking among the participating TVET institutions It also aimed to explore collaborative mechanisms, action plans and commitments towards piloting student and teacher exchanges and other joint activities. Discussions on continuous communication and networking were also held in three key study areas: 1) Hospitality and Tourism; 2) Agriculture and Fisheries; and 3) Electronics, Mechatronics and Manufacturing.
As an outcome of the workshop, three Frameworks of Cooperation based on the priority areas were signed by 60 TVET institutions at the workshop on 3 March 2016.
On 4 May 2016, the participants visited TRESTON International College, Ships Hotel Cruise Institute of the Philippines, MFI Foundation, Inc. and TESDA Women’s Centre. It was designed for international participants to learn about TVET practices in engineering, hospitality and skill development in the Philippines.
